Situated at the foot of the Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland is a small fishing village that boasts one of the largest fishing fleets in Ireland, some of Northern Irelands most Famous people and a history that makes good reading for young and old.

This site is designed to try and explain the hardships and lives of the Fishermen who have for generations passed this profession from father to son. Methods of fishing from times past to present day and the golden catch that they all seek. The history of the local area some of the people who have been able to give accounts of the history of this little village.

This job is among one of the most dangerous occupations known to man, not only do you have to rely on having reasonable weather and a sturdy boat but most important you have to be able to trust your fellow fishermen with your life, something that most of us only allow our families to have.

The sea is one of the most beautiful places on earth but one of the most dangerous, something that unfortunately a lot of families can testify too.

This site is dedicated to the families of those who have lost loved ones to the sea.
